So-
Using twin rotor topper and blades started hitting each other.
dropped off blade carrier and realigned and same again. Obviously turned to gearbox knackered , stripped all of them apart and checked all splines nothing seems broken! All gears mesh together when turned over by hand but as soon as drop the pto in…… bang! What am I missing? (apart from anew Kuhn topper!)

Has this just happened out of the blue? Has one gearbox been replaced? There are different ratios

Bought out of a sale but was using it for couple of hours fine and then all went bad. Reckon you may have hit nail on head though .

Just had exactly the same problem.
In the gearbox furthest away from the tractor the crown wheel had sheared the key way in half....!
It took us a while to find it.........

Topper up and running - Key way sheared in half length ways ! never seen that before , all running smoothly again. thanks for the advice
