We have just had out John Deere clutch reconditioned and flywheel skimmed at this place at Mansfield. If you are thinking of dropping it off the guy is ok and showed me what goes into reconditioning them. http://www.tractorclutch.co.uk/
It's the way I've written it,my bad english!I mean the bit the cover sits on.the lip on the flywheel!sorry.both the face and the lip need the same removed to keep the clearance the same.it's a 3185 fastrac.got someone at Gainsborough enrolled.happy days.thanksI've never heard of skimming clutch cover.
Won't the springs be longer resulting in less pressure against plate
What tractor is it?
The clutch cover is also reconditioned. Its not just fitting new friction material to the plate. You will be using the Fastrac to pull big loads so I would be wary about reconditioning clutch cover assuming the springs are already weakened by heat
Very possible. But faults can happen with new parts. I fitted a new clutch to my discovery that broke up after a week. Genuine part.I am going to tell you something
I have a distant cousin that worked at the local main Ford car agent from 1973 until it closed earlier this year and if I wanted to know something about my car I would go to his house and ask
One night I was there and he told me
When a Ford needed clutch replacement new parts were used but when other makes required clutch reconditioned parts were used and near enough all cases the clutch did not work properly and needed doing again. He had argument with boss and refused to fit reconditioned clutch
any more
