Footpaths

Common sense disappeared ages ago. Have never had so many problems with free range dog walkers basically treating fields as open access and using the excuse that this field is far drier than the muddy path in the next field and that they want to keep their trainers/shoes/precious dog/car clean, and also to avoid the risk of Alabama rot.

Very tempted to fence in all the paths.

Have also had the problem that because our paths are not quite as bad as other lower lying paths, more people are driving here to walk their precious dogs and parking where convenient, which has annoyed a few others locally. Have one particular person who drives here late at night, comes down drive clearly marked private and parks on what is now rather muddy grass.

Put down some rather large stones, which firstly were moved into hedge, then when put back by the following morning they had been placed across the drive. Eventually having caught her one night and had a ‘conversation’, she drove off saying she didn’t care and that because it was convenient for her to park there she was going to carry on doing so. The stones disappeared completely the following night. Heaven knows how she moved them as they were not light.

Has anyone got any good sized boulders - or failing that a bazooka?

Life is full of mysteries, like where did your stones disappear to or how did the valves disappear out of her tyres.

This self isolation malarky has brought large numbers of walkers round here today. Many of them aren’t regulars.

On many SM sites there are no end of people demanding that everything is shut down ( ie a complete lockdown ) when someone asks what these people will do if there is a lockdown they are mostly replying : We will go for walks in the countryside/ go to the beach with the kids....

So pointless having a lockdown if people are going to go and do things like that!

Be careful fencing footpaths in. Our council try their best too make you provide a clean surface for people too walk on instead of the inevitable mud bath. A lot of patience and saying "it's your footpath, not mine. You get it maintained" is required.
Then the council send the footpaths officer too inspect a footpath that is muddy down the side of one of my meadows. I couldn't believe it, she wanted it dug up, membranes and stoned up! I told her of course it's wet, it's not stopped raining here since mid September! And no you are not digging anything up on my farm, come back in spring and I will look at the drainage (which is fine) but until then you will make more mess than good! Took me well over an hour to over this through too her! ??

Its seams as though its to much to expect people using footpaths where it is very damp to go some where else for a while till things dry up. Not only is it very hard walking it seams ok to go out wider for dry ground that's not there and end up with a path 50 ft wide. Common sense and logic are long gone
It seems ok for them to pull stones of the wall to walk on where it boggy it also seems ok to do this

May be slightly incovinient but why not just wait till she lands then block the drive with some rather large bales? She how she takes that.

Got a telehandler? Just park her car somewhere more convenient.

Like on top of a bale or in a dike
