How long is abit of string question... But how long would 2 forage wagons take to lift 100 acres of fairly heavy first cut all fields within 5-10mins from pit. Some fields with knowes in them etc. Worst case scenario 20 hours?

We replaced a trailed forager (class 51) , two trailers with a forage wagon in 2010. Land is fairly close to the clamp and we find the wagon is faster.
What has a big influence is the crop. If you are doing first cut now you will probably cover 0.75 acres to a load, if you cut in mid may you will cover @ 2 acres to a load. Roughly a load every 12 to 15 minutes.
Takes us 2 leisurely days to pick up 90 acres.
It will take less diesel to pick up than it does to mow it!!
Less staff involved and less stress.

The experts will be along soon poke holes in our operation but he ho, works well for us.

Acorn.

cant answer it
are the tracks smooth and gate ways wide or do you have to crawl along and slow right down coz the gaps are too small

what's your idea of heavy?
15t of fresh material to the acre or 10

can you spin round in the pit and tip or do you have to reverse through the yard

if your going to try wagons then you need to rethink how you make silage
wagons are for picking quality not quantity
cut end of April and every 6 to 7 weeks after for quality and quantity
ideal quantity for wagons is 6 to 8 ton fresh material to the acre, any more than 12 to 14 ring the forager
if there's a crop there now that would make a forager cough then use the forager as the wagon wont work for you
