Ford 4000/4600 hydraulics

Our scraper tractor, Ford 4000, might be a 4600 has a hydraulic foible
If it is facing uphill the arms don't always lift up, unless the clutch is lifted and brake pedal pressed, the incline doesn't have to be much, and it never happens when facing downhill
There's plenty of oil in it
Thoughts anyone?

Plenty of oil in both parts of the backend? Hydraulics and gearbox are separate on them if I remember correctly.

I think that could just be for the gearbox.

@Ransome Cowboy where do you check the hydraulic oil on a 46? Picture would be helpful if you're at home.

can anybody out there confirm if the gearbox oil and the rear axle oil are the same , by the same i mean is there one fill point and one drain point or are they seperate? the manual i have with the tractor says to check both oil levels but i can only find one dipstick and one drain.the tractor...

Careful you don't wring it off mines just a crappy aluminium square head plug easily put back in cross thread

this way. Dipstick by gear lever is only for gearbox.

Thanks, I put the same question to the dairy fraternity and unbelievably their mechanical knowledge was pretty good
I put some oil in the ridiculously placed back end filler hole and its now working fine
