Welcome along, doesn't sound much like a french assent that you have. When did you move to a sunnier climate?
What do you plan to do in your timber shop?......................................................................................................
Maybe you should start a thread about your experiences of the french farming life...............................................................................

Thanks! Yes we are an Irish family who moved to France 14 years ago.
I will be renovating furniture and I make things like 3d tractor jigsaws, Christmas decorations and gifts and so on.
Just new here so not sure just yet what to even say in a thread, but hopefully I'll get some inspo soon.
New video should be up tomorrow, make sure and check it out 😊

Farming is definitely different over here! Although the weather these days reminds me of home cold wet and windy! Although working conditions in the summer is nice, we've had 3 years of bad drought weather and come July through to September we have no grass and are feeding hay in the fields. So it's great but has its own difficulties.
What do you farm up in northern Ireland?

Bit of everythin. Milk, suck cows, beef, rear hens to point of lay, layin hens and grow bit of barley and hay for sale. Means theres always plenty to do and never a slack time but also means if 1 thing doesnt work some years theres always other incomes so pros and cons.

I see what you mean. The cereal and the maize are two different parts so we grow maize only for our selves to feed the cattle and the goats, so as it is struggling we're deciding whether or not to continue with it.
However the cereal we grow for our selves but also to sell, so even though the cereal isn't as affected by the drought, the reason we are cutting down on that is due to labor, both my brother's have moved away and the amount of work with the cereal as well as everything else is just that bit too much and prices have been bad. So instead we are planning on doing more hay as there is less work and a better return on it. So at that we would even be able to buy the cereal or mash we would need for ourselves and still have an extra bit of income on less labor

Yeah we are a bit like that ourselves as we did milking goats, beef cattle and cerey so every year would balance out, but we're having to cut and change things just as the work load is growing 🙂 sounds like a decent thing you've got going there 👍
