Quick question lads, what would a 1996 7840 with 12,000 hrs be worth? Reasonably tidy, pissing out oil everywhere, tyres 30%, it's 1 of the shunters at work and may soon be surplus to requirements. I was thinking It would be a good project.

Thanks in advance

It's Sle and it's got a turbo on it which made it catch my eye as I had a 78 turbo in my youth

I will try 6k but if he wants more I may have to resort to the other shunter which is a 1990 7610 with 7000 hrs, there are others interested in it though and they tell me it's worth 3.5k.

It's alright, I washed it the other day and there was still a bit of shine on the paint, pissing out oil in numerous places, no back windows, mirrors torn out of both doors, tyres 20% both lift arms snapped off.

Im surprised that no one has gon to the falklands, found the burnt remains of the other one, dug up the remains and rebuild it on to an 8340 !
Going with a metal detector and a shovel may be classed as courting disaster even now. :(
Be cheaper to buy a County and strip the bits onto an 82.
'Apparently' it has to be an SL DP as the prop shaft won't fit past the SLE hydraulic pump.

what did they do about the prop shaft / diesel tank @Nearly ?.....did they just manage with the front tank.

A county MFT would be the ultimate answer to all of the worlds problems
(edit: with hook link arms as you will surely point out)

I assume they just used front tank. My 8100 Schindler 4wd just has front tank.
MuirHill 8340 anyone.....?

You well @newholland ?

There is a story about the Rhug estate in corwen, they had a rare fordson half track on the estate, for some reason the engine was separated from the rest and put into storage in one of the buildings, the rest of it was dragged into a big hole and covered with soil !!!!!! unfortunately no one can remember where this hole was
