Anyone using the foster 2000gg machine will be used to cut heather and make fire breaks in spring but would like to know how they are standing up to gorse sapling trees and stones thank you

I had a 1700x. Bought to swipe gorse, found it broke a lot of bolts once you got over 2 to 3 inch stuff (could have 10 branches at 2 inch going into the machine at the same time mind). Worked better in individual bushes rather than a solid mass of it. I'm told the 2000 has a 12mm shear bolt and bigger gearbox as opposed to 10mm on the 1700 so it will be up for more.

1700 was very heavy so the 2000 will be even heavier.

It just wasn't the right machine for me in my circumstances. The size of whins I had were easier pulled out with a digger.

Foster make an lighter weight swipe and wish I'd both that. It would have been handier for bracken, rushes and swiping down gorse if it grew back once cleared with digger first.

@hoff135 thanks for your reply your machine sounds like it manages the gorse do the 2200 will it more sparse stuff plus saplings etc the white grass and heather should burn in April fingers crossed
