Having read the Forum for a while now, I put all the advice into practice.
Have a good rotation you said, so I now grow Winter Linseed, Beans, OSR, Ahiflower and all first wheats and had record wheat yields this year, but my neighbours said that last year was a good year for no-till. Use minimum disturbance you said, so I direct drill all the farm. However, I have fallen out with my diesel supplier, as he seems to think I am buying my diesel from someone else. Sow early you said and right enough all my crops are through the ground and looking well, but my neighbours just keep telling me that this autumn has been a good year for no-till. Use cover crops you said and this will improve soil structure and drainage. Right enough I can wear my shoes to walk the crops and I don't have any ponds in the fields, but all the ducks have gone. On top of that, I seem to a bigger variety of wildlife on the farm. However, here is the flaw. I have a huge infestation of small brown riggly things in the soil and as a result every seagull in the surrounding area seems to land on my fields and carry out a ritual dance. Never had this problem when I used to plough. Can some one explain what I am doing wrong?
