My offer to come stands but Sid doesn't want to meet till next year and I can't commit until later in this year, if that's not good enough to satisfy SIDS demands I am sorry.
Not my demands but the dates that the group have free in the diary. 11th Jan is the earliest i gave you. 4 months away. Maybe that would take you to the magic billion litres you crave....but hang on you just said you can't cope with more milk than the 710 million you have signed up? Or is that 710 litres?

we are not up to our neck in it because we don't waste time, our first milk was being picked in June and is handled by the processor who is set to bottle for us, we have 3 more groups we collect from October 1st which is why we are busy. Ok you want a commitment - I am sorry but I am not able to attend your meetings next year, happy now! Sid you take care of your business and I will mine and we will be fine.

I will explain to any dairy farmers in Devon that the Free range MMB won't answer or return calls and can't commit to a meeting 4 months in advance so please be aware.

Oh and you didn't answer the who owns the milk question. You know the one you gave two different explanations to as i quoted.

Sid tell them what makes you happy regardless if it's blatant lies. But to clarify - I am not able to make your meetings, there's your commitment. And be sure you tell your producers we offered fixed term contracts but you wouldn't meet me when they were on offer!

No more questions Sid, discussion and opportunity over
Questions -aren't answered
I never needed the opportunity i was trying to help milk producers in this area but i feel they would be better off supplying an expanding clever factory with a range of brands like Crediton dairies rather than maybe putting all their runny eggs in one basket?

Open post to all interested TFF members.

We are facing a short period of better milk prices ahead of a long period of uncertainty; the recent dreadful period is a net result of how the current system works so we can make a fairly safe assumption (at best) this is what we face in the future should we continue as we have done in the past, however when you consider the possible Brexit fall out of tariff free imports on dairy from non EU, and EU neighbours (Ireland) still getting SFP then the future is a lot more challenging, obviously we dont know what Brexit means but we do hear the term "tariff free deals" and our PM has said current funding will remain until 2020, so for me I will plan accordingly for the worst case scenario.

My advice for what its worth is to use this lift in milk prices as an opportunity to grab some stability for the next 12 months; this rest bite from the daily worry of milk prices will then allow time to consider our individual businesses and how well placed they are to cope in what could be a very different world to what we are used to.

In GB we are lucky right now, we have many different markets for our milk and many buyers to choose from, therefore the decision is an individual one for each of us, so dont waste time, shop around, go and see potential buyers and ask them their long term plan, see what they offer and then decide what is best for you and your business. You may decide to stay where you are but at least you have made a conscious decision, you may find you cant actually leave because you are on a 12mth notice and no one will give you a promise of a comparable price in 12 months time for you to consider, either way the choice is yours and no one is forced to do anything, likewise dont expect someone else to deliver your brighter future for you - its in your hands.

For anyone interested in what we are doing then please (in the first instance) email [email protected] or register on http://www.freerangemilk.net/support-us/ as this way you get the weekly email newsletter/updates. We are hosting meetings next week in West Wales and the Midlands if of interest.

Please feel free to comment but dont ask any questions via this post; contact me as above, I promise to respond within 24 hours. Nick

My advice for what its worth is to use this lift in milk prices as an opportunity to grab some stability for the next 12 months; this rest bite the milk price is still below COP. I don't see anyone saying 22p is great? from the daily worry of milk prices will then allow time to consider our individual businesses and how well placed they are to cope in what could be a very different world to what we are used to.

In GB we are lucky right now, we have many different markets for our milk and many buyers to choose from, you may have in the central UK but on the fringes the number of buyers is limited in some cases to 2 therefore the decision is an individual one for each of us, so dont waste time, shop around, go and see potential buyers and ask them their long term plan, see what they offer and then decide what is best for you and your business. You may decide to stay where you are but at least you have made a conscious decision, you may find you cant actually leave because you are on a 12mth notice or be tied in with capital you can't get out for years and will get no return on. and no one will give you a promise of a comparable price in 12 months time for you to consider, either way the choice is yours and no one is forced to do anything, likewise dont expect someone else to deliver your brighter future for you - its in your hands. Definitely in own hands. Was up to 18 months ago when over supply, who's hands was that in, took over.
