Front suspension intermittent fault

Deutz 6150.4 has developed an intermittent front suspension fault :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Service alarm is STN 623 FMI 3.

It's something to do with one of the solenoids. Checked the connections on the valve block, but no joy.

Switch off engine and restart, the suspension works for a bit, then alarm goes off again. Not ideal baling a neighbours straw in a bast@rd rough field :dead:

What else to look for, or is it dealer and the computer? :(

Lock solenoid shorting .
Probably the solenoid failing as it gets warm hence why it works for a bit . It's the one in from the side .
Try swapping the magnet over with either the lift or lower solenoid ( magnet only) see if you get a different code , if you get same code then it a wiring fault if you get different code then it the magnet ( don't think the magnet is available separately ) .

That makes lots of sense, thank you.

My M620 can have issues with the axle position. It is sensed by a ball running on a cam on the axle - occasionally the ball gets jammed on it's track.

Fingers crossed, it's fixed.

Took out the lock solenoid valve and blew it clean with compressed air, reassembled, and touch wood, it's been fine for just shy of 5hours hot work since.

Couldn't see anything in the valve, but one of the dealer mechanics overhead me asking for the price of a valve and suggested I try this first because I'd need to be sitting down to hear the price

Bit disappointing that it appears to have been dirt, as it's had the back end oil and filters changed every 500 hours of its 2400 hour life, and I'm careful cleaning the couplers on implements.

@njneer though I wasn't told the actual price of a valve assembly, the storeman did say that the magnet is not listed separately to the valve.

Thanks for the help.

used to have a valmet 805 way back in the eighties. the solenoids for the hi-lo used to stick. the piston part of the solenoid was made of aluminium and got gummed with residue. a light rub with very fine emery cleaned it up nicely, no more trouble.

Had a JD 6820 with TLS axle that used to lock up. Dealer changed solenoid etc, still problem. Then noticed tractor brake lights were on - reset brake valve and axle problem sorted!

The main leccy spool valves on tractors now often have secondary and tertiary fine filters (pencil filters) built into the end of the spool block for this very reason. Often the reason they throw up error codes is that these filters get blocked or need replacing.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
