Fuel tank / sender issue

I filled the tractor up today and the dash etc was reading fine. Worked about 40 min or so and it suddenly went like this. See picture. Has anyone with a New Holland has this before? If so what was it? I’m thinking the sender in the tank is jiggered but maybe a wire rubbed through. I’ve no idea but hoping it’s not a big job or expensive for what it is. The tank is pretty much full as I was moving loading bales in the yard so was on pretty much tickover.

Its not the same as you but i had a software update done on my tsa a few years ago and now the fuel guage reads back to front, full is empty and empty is full. Its a right pain in the ass. And they told me the update couldn't be reversed so its been like it a few years now!

Funny that because mine had a software update that morning as the engineer came to sort a shuttle switch issue it started playing up!

Oh no! Might be worth asking if there are any known side effects.
I never used the tractor for a while after i had mine done snd the 1st i realised i ran out of diesel! I phoned up and they said nothing they can do. I often wondered whether just swapping the wires round might fix it but im guessing not as that would be too easy.
Keep me updated on the issue.

No swapping the wires won’t make any difference as the sender is just sending the same resistivity (ohms) reading back to the ECU.

It’s up to the ECU to determine how empty or full the tank is based on doing a lookup, i.e. so many ohms of resistance corresponds with a x,y,x position of the float in the juice.

It’s just duff software - a bug in other words - that they can sort by updating the code and deploying this as the next update or patch. Whether they actually do or don’t is at their will and whether it’s flagged up as an issue to them.

I’ve spoken to my NH dealer who did the software update. Turns out it is that and commmon but my engineer didn’t realise it had changed it. They are coming back at their expense to h3 menu and change configuration for me.

I think I need to invest in one of them singles to get to the h menu’s.

Thanks for the update on this. I'll see if i can get mine sorted if its now fixable. Ive got a diagnostic plug so could probly do it myself if i knew what i was doing! Let me know the outcome tomorrow and hope it fixes the problem, he might even tell you what configuration hes changed!

H3 menu is for fuel sender unit and then just cycle through until your dial on the dash reds correctly. Well that’s what David King said before I rang the dealer. Where did you get the diagnostic plug? I need to acquire one.

I got my plug from carpenter goodwin in leominster but i think its a vapormatic item. Have had it a few years now and i think it cost me £55ish

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
