Gaia Wind in liquidation

I think that inability to get planning will have had as much if not more effect than the sub reduction as there are hardly any getting permission on shore anyway.
It looks to me like the foreign owned companies have the off shore machines sown up so they will be able to reduce build costs due to volume.
The politicians got scared of public opinion with regard to onshore wind and that was the end of that.

That’s a shame. They were making a good small scale turbine at an affordable price.

The government have made a right hash of this withdrawing subsidy so rapidly.

Does not bode well for agriculture after brexit

Or, just don't build industries up on false money?

Nearly bought one a few years ago and chickened out. Curious though - given all outlay and all income, would you say that you are in profit yet?

Yes, only within this tax year. After costs it has returned approx 13% on investment. They were £45k installed back in 2010 though. From memory they increased in price sharply not long after that.

This is getting rather tiresome - a Gaia shouldn't have to pay any rates and the "Revenue" doesn't kick in until there are profits.

Dont be so quick to dismiss, the rates exemption I believe is only English valuation office and does not apply to Wales. As for the Revenue its not classed as part of farm income so cannot be offsett against losses to help with the 5 year rule. You could even be double taxed with farm losses you cannot use but with wind turbine income which you have to pay tax on.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
