Garden office /storage/ shed

I looked at building a conservatory on my house. Was going to cost £25k as a non taxable expense..ie has to come out of private drawings. Seemed too expensive.
Next idea was one of the many summer houses advertised on eBay.. Some look lovely.. And a little cheaper.
Last idea is a fully decked out shipping container. A commercial building with insulation, windows, power points and lights etc. €5k delivered
Could I pull this off as a piece of 'plant' and machinery? It's not as nice on the eye, but I could clad it in wood and live with it. I already have an office in the house, but could I use it as a conference room and get the full write off?
Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Perhaps I'm a gypsy at heart!?

Thoughts?
Immoral tax evasion.
it is no ones moral duty to pay one penny more in tax than they are obliged to and it is perfectly moral and legal to structure your affairs so that you pay not one more penny than you have to and only a fool would think otherwise .....

the OP can either claim the cost as a legitimate business expense or he can't ..morality doesn't come into it ...my only thought is theres a bit of a difference between a conservatory and a shipping container ...don't think my OH would take too kindly to the latter stuck in the garden even if it was tax efficient !

The op is clearly trying to add to his living accomodation and enquiring as to whether or not he can "pull off" claiming it as a business expense.
Immoral.
End of.

totally different ball game having a shipping container in one's garden and a conservatory. Obviously a conservatory on a private dwelling is not a business expense, however if you plonk the shipping container in the garden, add cladding and a pitched roof to make it look pretty (watch out for condensation inside though and lack of thermal inertia) then IF it was used as an office, storage or business conference room then there is no problem in claiming expenses. If it was to be used as a garden room then you should not put it down as plant/machinery etc...

Is he really ? I read that he wants to use it as a conference room ....now this is either allowable against tax or it's not ....morality doesn't come into it

He asked if he "could use it as a conference room and get the full write off".
Nowhere did he say he wanted to, although, I agree that if that is what the true purpose would be, then he would have every justification to make a claim for relief on the cost.

Niether did he say he wanted to use either the conservatory or summer house as a conference room, but said or implied that he would have to pay for either out of earned and taxed income.

You know what he means as well as I do and the concept is immoral when the government is desperate for cash to fund the rental of eight bedroomed houses for single mothers with fourteen offspring.

Unbeknownst to him he is doing the government a favor in disguise (y)
