Gatepost and delivery lorry.

Funny which threads seem to run. On the World stage I thought the news that the US DOJ had approved Bayer's takeover of Monsanto may have run with the couple of news items posted but that old sleeper post seems to be getting ahead
Sleepers are more 'of the people'. We can all relate to it and we've probably all got something similar. Its the compo aspect that tickles.

I had a bigger problem when a delivery driver hit one of our farm entrance posts.
A dressed granite post is not a cheap item to replace

This thread is a great advert for why you should never concrete a railway sleeper in. Concrete is just the lazy, slow and expensive way to put them in. About 3 years ago I replaced a rotten tanalised post with a sleeper at our neighbours. This winter someone else managed to knock it over while going through. 10 min job of pushing it straight again and tamping some more soil around it. Sleepers will eventually succumb to rot after 50 or so years. Just think of the poor bugger that has to replace them next time

Did he confesss?

Yes he did. I couldn’t blow my top as the driver is an inspiration to all. He only has one leg. The leg he has lost is gone above the knee. Yet he still handles an artic and gets up on the trailer with his crutches and uses them to guide the loops when unloading the fertiliser. Incredible man who has not let disability from an injury beat him

If you had an entrance 100metres wide some willy woukd still run into something.lorry drivers in my opinion.employed to drive lorries and not to think what they are doing.
Nick...
Exactly. Don't think tractor drivers won't join the party through.
Best thing to do if you a proper wide entrance is to place some concrete blocks a foot from the edges. And I mean the kind of block you don't dare drive over and won't be bumped away either.

It's one person's gate post and others commented that they probably wouldn't have even broached the subject. My point was merely observing how this thread had taken off on an agricultural forum and yet Monsanto (agrochemical giant of Roundup fame and pioneer in genetically modified food) being taken over by Bayer gets by with two News posts and barely a mention. I would imagine every NGO is currently turning themselves inside out commenting on the take over of their bogeyman

My mother’s house drive way is about 60 metres long and she has assisted bin collection so men should walk up here drive and pull bin to Lorry.they thought they could reverse a big 6wheel Lorry up her drive running over manicured lawns and making lots of mess.i Bollocked the drivers on several occasions but they did not care.eventually stopped it by putting a metre wide and 300 deep concrete ring eitherside and filling with concrete.now they can no longer get in and it’s saved me hours repairing damage .at least the council offered to repair damage but allways done it myself.another case of lorry drivers paid to driveclorrys and not to think.we get our fair share here over the year
