3 year younger and 400 less hours is worth a lot. I think...Despite the narrower cut?
I'd prefer 17foot for a 5 walker

We had an 18foot on our previous 2007 Tucson 320. It handled it fine.I think an 18 foot header is pushing it on a 320, depending on how much straw you want to push through
I'd want a 430 on 18.
Is a 430 a 5 walker combine ?
We had a 450 with a 6.6m header cutting 800 acres of grain it was a very good machine the biggest downside was it was slow to empty the tank and didn't like to get the last little bit of grain out of the straw so was slow in big crops of strawYes, 440 is a 6 walker, 450 is a 6 walker with more hp I think.
Have got a couple of 450s under consideration, one is 2011 model, 1600 hrs with a yield meter.
Other is 2008 model 2000 hrs and £14k cheaper, both have vario 6.6 metre (21.5 ft) headers, chaff spreaders and choppers.
Either of these would romp through harvest so quick we hardly noticed it I should think.
All of these options would have years of life in them, I would like to think the next machine will run on to its 30th birthday like this one has, the finance charges take a bit of swallowing in the short term though.
Whatever happens, be it contractor or replacement machine, combining costs are going up, was offered a trade in price on the old Dominator that put depreciation at £2.50/ac + £10/ac fuel? plus probably another £3.50/ac in parts and maintenance, £16/ac!
Maybe it will do another few years?!

Changed to a 650 lexion and it was no better except it could empty the tank in no time
So depending what you're crops are like a 430 on a smaller header might be a good shout
I doubt they can be speeded up or they wouldn't have had to change the whole unloading system on the new tucanoLots of people say they are slow to unload, could the drive sprocket be changed to speed it up?
I think we'd be able to run a 450 pretty slow, if we were patient!

On dry grain it was fine it was really when conditions got tricky in a bad season that things got slow got your acreage I'd say you wouldn't have a problem with it
Ours was a 2009 so newer could be betterOlder ones used to be 75 L/s which was steady but still a reasonable speed for machines of that size.
How many hours on the 98? What would you expect to have to pay to buy it?
Is that the one with the 800s and 900hrs? Like new. Best of luck with it.Well, the thread didn’t run for dozens of pages because a decision was made back in December. And today it arrived.
In with the new:
And a fond farewell to the old:
There’s a 5.4 metre vario header for the new one, its 5 years old and in mint condition. Hopefully it will be as good a machine as the Dominator.
Very smart! At the risk of being nosey, what sort of money was it?
Any options like yield monitoring or Vario?
Yield meter bit hit and miss anyway vario and Elec sieves are brilliantVario header but no yield metering. Think you can adjust the sieves etc from the screen.
Price was high but I think stacks up when taking the longer view, PM me if you want to discuss.
