I'm moving then.... not to Wiltshire mind :D

Depends which bit of Wiltshire - up here in the NE desert area of Wilts it rains a lot less. Next time it rains look at the rain radar, and watch the rain dissipate as it moves up from the SW past Swindon - it invariably thins out, if not stops entirely. Its been not raining or light drizzle at my place, looked on the radar, heavier rain all around. Great for hay making, not so great for spring cropping!

Wash your mouth out! Reading's virtually London. Swindon is a large island of mediocrity surrounded by lovely countryside.
Feck dont you start about reading being london:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: mind you can get dizzy with all the roundabouts in swindon not to mention the magic one, mind you when I was in the YFC we used to go to the club in the centre a fair bit Brunel rooms or something?

The only thing in my mind about Swindon is, Willy Carson, Melindra Messenger and Lou Macari's brief stint as swindons manager :)

Although I suspect @Goweresque is nearer the Newbury set :D and I don't mean Swampys mob

Didcot is Network SouthEast on the railway, so I reckon everything east of that is the greater London conurbation. You don't hit any decent countryside coming out of London on the M4 til after Reading anyway.

Yes, used to be the Brunel Rooms in Swindon town centre, was a quite a big club in its day, with a national reputation, with the old revolving bar and some big name DJs. Closed down a good few years ago, reopened for a short while, then closed again soon after.

You've covered most of Swindon's glory years right there, all you've missed is Diana Dors, XTC,Billy Piper, and the unmissable car crash that was Paolo Di Canio's brief rein in charge of the Robins.

I'm Swindon born and bred me, I can see the Christchurch spire from my bedroom window!
