I’m selling a McCormick B275 for a friend.
How do I go about getting a v5 for it?
Year of manufacture is unknown and no paperwork exists as such
It does have a vin plate as pictured

Did someone on another thread mention using the local post office for guidance as to which form to use?
I don't think the website will actually have a form available for old non registered tractors? But it may well have, we only use their services when necessary.

I know David Brown Tractor Club have a committee member who looks after such things, as do a lot of other old vehicle clubs, mainly cars though, most also have details available as to age of said vehicle from the serial/vin number.
Doesn't really appear to be a club for McCormick in the UK though.

Thanks for that.
Was more wanting to know what documentation would be needed but I’ll give that route a try.

You can get an age related plate if unregistered before, very easy to do. But I have a tractor that was bought new by my grandfather, was registered but was not taxed around the 1980's so fell off the system, I cannot for the life of me get a registration doc for it using the original reg number despite having the original bill of sale, all my grandfather's hand written farm records detailing when/where/how much the tractor cost etc, even have pictures of said tractor with me sat on grandfather's lap aged 5 showing the registration etc etc. Tried owners club, council records office but DVLA say that there is no record of chassis number and reg together, hence why they will not give me a registration doc for it, strokers!!!
I think if you had a buff log bock, you'd be ok but otherwise you will have to get an age related plate, £55 I think and a small amount of paperwork, no need for a Q plate what so ever.

The trouble is they will not give an age related plate without expert opinion on the chassis number and date of production.
If their is a club for such tractors as is the case for David Browns or Nuffield Leyland, this is simple.
Stupid thing of course, if it was a car , you can just buy one!
I am not certain what is required to be an expert on these things though, possibly a letter from an ex dealer in such tractors may be sufficient.

Would ARGO UK be able to help?

They are the currenty proprietors of the McCormick brand and last owners of the Doncaster factory. They may still hold the archives or be able to point you in the direction of an expert.

All to to with engine, gearbox back end and steering colume casting block numbers and when we did it had to send off for fergi to their club to see if all tally up as so many engines were used for other things and different back ends etc.
We knew all genuine as Grandfathers also had old buff V5 etc.etc and already had a reg. number painted on it so all tallyed .

Just had a thought on these vintage numbers. As we know you canot rent mber or trade a tractor numbeer for some reason, no idea why.
However this is a vintage vehicle since DVLA have now decided all vehicles over 25 years are, rather than agricultural tractor. Wonder if now possible to change plates, although it does cost of course.

B275 diesel Introduced in 1958 and serial numbers ran from 501 to 632
The 1959 year serial numbers ran from 633 to 12160
Production stopped in 1968 at serial number 55546 - so 55,045 produced.

This number doesn't include all the variants for example petrol B275, industrial and skid units sold to other manufacturers etc
