Didn't Jim Moseley say it would be voluntary initially but eventually it will become mandatory ?Elsewhere, Andrew Blenkiron, director at Euston Estate in Suffolk, said he would be “incredibly disappointed” by any decision to cancel the GFC and highlighted the fact that it was a voluntary standard.
@Sid knows the power, I did hear he was singing TFF's praises elsewhere……. change from within
feck that !
I suspect he is eyeing up his next career move, onto the helm of a gravy train. That is the only reasoning I can come up with for such a stupid comment.

My tenanted situation (specifically), and my very public poo pooing of the credit/net zero greenwash means I'm keeping well back from it all just the noo.in theory, as a farm business, you could draw up a contract that all carbon, BNG and environmental credits created on the land under your management had been contractually 'accounted for' . That could be into a completely separate family trust/business. Then as a farmer, you would have no obligation to anyone else.
Would be an interesting concept....especially for tenants!
I think Jim Mosley and Christine tacon’s positions are both untenable. The damage they have both caused to red tractor as a business (whether you like it or not) is surely grounds for dissmassal. So, now that RT have had to do a major U-turn and considering that “Dim Jim” threw the rest of the AFS board under the bus is his position now completely untenable?
How long do you reckon before he is “collateral damage”?
Head to head with the Nfu would be interesting.Has anyone from the BFU been invited onto Farming Today yet? I think it would definitely be worth an interview and thrash out some policy positions
Young stanley hasnt covered himself in glory with his recent opinions, forgive me if i couldnt give a tom tit what he thinks. The only fly in the ointment with these headlines, is that farmers who oppose the GFC are seen as environmental vandals.
That has already been hinted at by young Joe S.
Nothing could be further from the truth, but the real reason for farmer opposition to RT's GFC needs to be put across very, very carefully. And accurately.
Andrew Blenkiron going for the LOLs obvs
RT have not yet done a major U turn @An Gof on the GFC issue have they??So, now that RT have had to do a major U-turn and considering that “Dim Jim” threw the rest of the AFS board under the bus is his position now completely untenable?

All that has happened is the AHDB and the NFU have said they have advised the RT board not to go ahead with the GFC but as things stand the GFC will still start on the 1st April 2024!
Unless the RT board overturn what was agreed back at the Sept board meeting ( which they have not yet done ) then GFC is still going ahead as planned.
And given the NFU and AHDB signed off the GFC at the Sept board meeting then the BRC might demand that the GFC is introduced as agreed by the RT board back in Sept 2023.
I can see it coming back in late summer and being introduced overnight at a time when farmers are flat out on field work/ harvest etc.they have.
