GFC was to go ahead - now not going ahead

How the heck can the board ‘take responsibility’ for this monumentally ill-judged car crash of a policy without following it out of the door?

“We hope that by dropping the module, we can close the door on this chapter and move forward,” said Ms Tacon.

uh-uhh!!

None of us will really trust them anymore. Bare minimum they need the BRC and any other supermarket lackeys out, and what are Mosley and Tacon even doing still there? They are an insult to the farming community. They just think they can style it out and we won’t notice. No. No. No.

Excellent reporting from Farmers weekly 👍 @AM_Arable @Abi Kay etc why do the big announcements always seem to happen when i’m about to get on a plane ! …. interested to see how this develops over the next few hours …….. fully expect NFU / AHDB to claim the U turn is all down to them despite them being part of the problem originally as AFS board members

make no mistake if it wasn’t for social media, every post / like on TFF / X / Facebook and the BFU etc then GFC would be live and being pushed upon us by now

Make no mistake community has stopped this via social media and every post / tweet on tff / x / fb etc has added a extra nail to GFC’s coffin so massive thanks to everyone who has supported this battle, do not underestimate the importance of what you have ALL achieved it has saved farmers millions (if not billions) of future income 👍

Fantastic news. Well done the BFU, TTF members and @Clive. Christine Tacon can't possibly survive this though. What does she think the response will be to the RT review that includes farmers views. 🤔.

i think there has to be a change of Red Tractor management now if it has any hope of survival in any new future form post next reviews

Tacon and Mosley have been an utter mess

A big thanks to all BFU hierarchy who pushed this for farmers.
You made a huge contribution to making them back off. As did Farmers Weekly.
The thing I find most annoying is that there's not real contrition from RT. They admit to making an error. If I made a £295000 error in my business, I'd be stuffed. Completely stuffed. But never mind, it's not their money, it's ours. However, to be fair, at least they've dumped GFC. Now, how about dumping much of the tickbox farce of the audit and the mass balance rubbish. And looking at one collection note, one spray sheet and checking one can of spray in the store. Complete and utter BLX. Fair enough cleanliness, rodent control and a few other things but they could row back much further, get more audits done in a shorter time and save money. What's not to like?
A change of Board/management wouldn't go amiss either.

After the management has gone. We need to think about future of assurance going forward after this episode. If the safety of our produce has got to be guaranteed ,we as farmers should be doing the guaranteeing on our terms and not leaving it to a gang of schemers to push us around with their list of wants.

Who's going to consult UK farmers who aren't members of either NFU, SNFU, FUW or UFU?

Don't they get any say?
We'll be doing a BFU consultation.

A big thanks to all BFU hierarchy who pushed this for farmers.

Tacon has staffed £295,000 of RT money. That's come out of farmers' pockets. Badly managed.

She should resign.

Good luck to anyone asking for rt assured animal feed.

be a lot of hungry livestock about if that was the rule. And let’s face it rt itself wouldn’t allow that to happen because everyone would bin the job and there gravy tap would be turned off.

Fools gold imo.

If a snake does a u turn its still a snake.

I would hope that uk farmers disable the nfu and start there own, revamps are kicking the can down the road.

Same needs to occur in oz.
