Which one? :D

Exactly! I have a feeling I asked the same question to you regarding your install. :p

Nice little Kobelco. Hilary must be great at digging holes!

They've a fleet of them all named up. Ashley and Princess Meghan have been here recently.

The POTS that were installed here less than a month ago have already been driven over by a vehicle! Out north of Gloucester this evening and spotted another one in exactly the same sorry state.

A plastic manhole cover won't hold up against a lorry.

Cripes! What a POS rather than POT!!

That’ll stand no hope with any sort of vehicle on it. Thought they had to comply with some standard or other if they’re placed in / on the highway. Maybe not?!

You'd think....!

They're only really pedestrian strength if that. Standard Gigaclear issue it would seem.

At the very least you'd think using something quite so cheap they've have laid it in a concrete surround or something, rather than just bare soil. That said, the speed they are laying it wouldn't give them time to do a better job....they're on £/m....and probably have the contract for future maintenance and repairs too!!

They practically chuck it in don’t they!?

Not having any experience of Gigaclear it’s obviously a very different approach to FTTP than the Openreach design both for civil works and network architecture/operation.

Just had a read of this old article following through from your google link. It’s interesting.

What was the score around your way @Steevo did you blokes (and ladies of course, not sexist here :D) grant them any (free) wayleaves to get the fibre in?

Almost everything round here has been done in the highway (verge). They are laying deeper than BT standard depth tho.....this must be a good 6-9” deep(!!) in the deep bits. ;)

There was some talk from the support team of delays due to some private wayleaves needing to be granted I believe.

Beats BTOR any day on that front-had a wayleave request from them recently....the amount of rights they have under the telecoms code is crazy.....and to think they charge customers line rental every month too, yet the landowner sees 0.001% or so for the inconvenience.

My answer to any future wayleaves for any utilities will most certainly be no.

Any progress with you yet @Campbell?

Order placed here 1st August.....yet no real on the ground movement at all here.

Got the broken POTs fixed two week ago as installation couldn't proceed before this was sorted......but still no further news.

Early indications are not favorable when compared to our existing BT contract. More expensive and very little increase in current Mbs. So on that basis, have not applied for a connection.

Oh! and the concrete chamber down the lane, which the present Mrs C told them was too close to the road, was dealt a terminal blow by a combine................

Do tell more.....
have you seen the contracts they send out if they want to go across your land ?
there quality of workmanship is well known
and they say in the contract that the landowner is responsible for damage
they should be on rogue traders
and to top it all they are paid by the government
they can shove their broad band up their arse

That’s Interesting. I would have thought GC would have beaten the spots of BT in terms of charges.

What’s your current deal with BT like, connection speed wise and monthly charge?
