Was going to nip down today, drop the wife off shopping in Edinburgh. But thought i should make the most of this better weather we have been having. Wake this morning to rain rain rain rain

Just back from the first meeting. Great to hear our very own @Global ovine speaking again and Rex Dolby was very interesting too. Mentioned setting up a website for soil type problems, which should be followed up.

Thanks to the Walkers for hosting, who cooked my lunch and tea as I spent so much time blethering!

And @easyram1 deserves a big thank you for bringing over this calibre of speaker. Beg, steal or borrow a copy of the booklet!

As above, excellent meeting and that booklet is solid gold!

Will @Global ovine be giving his reasons afterwards? It would be worth the trip just for that.:D
I have not yet fully briefed him on the archane rituals we use in the UK to judge sheep !!! I think that the "Reasons session" will be very interesting.
I do still have seared in my memory 2 comments made at an Eblex Open Day on our farm in 2008 ( probably the most stressful day of my farming life). The first one uttered by a leading Suffolk pedigree breeder when looking at our mid Feb born ram lambs reared on grass in early July was
"I expected them to be bad but never in my wildest nightmares did I expect them to be this bad - look at their ewe heads "
The second uttered by a well known farm manager from a large estate in Derbyshire who had been a client for our traditional Suffolks for 20+ years was " Eeeh his poor old dad must be spinning in his grave if he can see these blessed things".
Although I smiled politely at the time I was mortified by these and similar comments in the early days. I doubt if we will have similar comments tomorrow because the world is moving on but the reaction of all pedigree breeders of a traditional ilk of whatsoever breed will be interesting but now will definitely not bother me.
