Red Backs are very comfortable but the soles are useless and made of soft cheese. Quality of soles has got worse over the years. I love wearing them but they are VERY poor value for money now.
2nd that, my last pair of Red Backs haven’t lasted a year, I won’t be buying them again.

Not sure if they still do lace up/side zip Redbacks any more (Cobar)?
Redback soles last better than the uppers with me as I only spend approximately 0.01% of my time on concrete.
Dealer boots are crap for ankle support though, hence the lace up Redbacks.

I would agree, they are great to wear but lasting less and less time with each pair I've owned over the last 15 years with more recent ones not making it much more that 9 months.

The last boots I bought were Blundstone and they have done 16 months, but they are just about done now. Just as comfy as Redback and seem to be lasting better.

I like the Dewalt work boots come rain or shine. Two to three years lifespan.
There are several makes to chose from but I prefer the leather ones;

I think it might have been Roy who posted some Australian boots that were laced but also have a quick zip up side?

No steel toe or treadplate is not such a hot idea IMO.

we have very large domestic mining / construction / agricultural / transport industries

there are any number of Australian companies supplying a vast range of work boots, work clothing, hi viz, safety gear etc etc

yes, the most popular style of boot on nearly every job site is the zip sided lace up steel toe

in fact, some job sites won’t allow elastic sided boots as they aren’t secure enough or provide enough support
