Is there a way to turn off the search from address bar - it is a pest with its auto complete

would like to search from here, but even if I click to type there it auto goes to address bar

Go into settings, turn off 'Google instant'
That should sort it.

I dont see this in googles settings, where is it please?

I might be able to help. In chrome the address bar is both search and url entry so in reality it 'should' make no odds. I am guessing it is appending your search term to the end of the address in the bar and that is why it is annoying.

Make sure a dodgy web search bar hasn't installed itself by carefully checking the default search in the settings.
If not then turn off predictive address entry and the 'search as you type' love search function, can't think of the name at the mo.

Control panel - uninstall program chrome is total shite. get on opera 10x quicker and 100x better .

It really is acting daft lately, so slow loading, this darned search from address bar, keeps getting Kill pages randomly

Under the 'search' option it mentions omnibox in blue - click on the blue word omnibox - does it let you turn it off?

Try it, will take 5 minutes assuming chrome can load the page

If I open a new tab it auto goes to this page

and I then am not able to search from the box under google only from the address bar.
But if I open a new tab from this

I get

and I can search as normal Thanks Bob
