Well, she was an ardent Brexiteer, so at the very least, she can be called to account if Farming looks to be going tits up as a lot anticipate.

Gove, for all his failings was a heavyweight and had a good handle on his brief, Villiers as I recall has had a less than stellar career.

From the Voting site..

Theresa Villiers is a Conservative MP, and on the vast majority of issues votes the same way as other Conservative MPs.

Party hack being rewarded??

She has a parliamentary majority of about 320 votes. It is unlikely she will be sitting after the next election.

Also she is a strong campaigner for the banning of live animal exports.

What does a London Borough MP know about farming?? Get her on farm @Guy Smith There are also still some shows including Heckington(The largest Village show in the country) Sunday would be good, she would see some very good livestock.! Get to her before the environment lot do!!

Good idea @Wolds Beef
You could do worse than give Charles a ring and suggests he gives her an invite to present some of the prizes in the Grand Parade - he's always looking to promote his show and she might appreciate the chance to be seen to be all pro-active in her new job. At least she'd be able to see, first hand, what a bull or a tup looks like.

During the live environment questions on now she is saying all the right things and seems to have a balanced view. She has already spoken about promoting our high farming standards here and abroad , clearer food labelling etc etc. Quite happy to give her a chance and its upto the nfu to brief her with a balanced view on what farmers need to give us all a fair chance
