During the live environment questions on now she is saying all the right things and seems to have a balanced view. She has already spoken about promoting our high farming standards here and abroad , clearer food labelling etc etc. Quite happy to give her a chance and its upto the nfu to brief her with a balanced view on what farmers need to give us all a fair chance

I doubt she's going to be listening the the NFU

but I agree she's saying saying a lot of the right stuff and seems balanced

Just another marker for all you Johnson fanboys out there ....

You may have noted that "animal welfare" was mentioned in his speech outside No10 yesterday. Bit odd .... until you realise that Mr Spaff's girlfriend is an ardent animal rights campaigner (and anti pollution esp plastics) . So expect Ms Villiers to ramp up even more measures as a result of pillow talk.

I never understood this live animal export ban when a trip from here to Scotland would be longer than to France and a trip from NI would be longer by sea
it seems some folk have a problem with animals being in a boat, do they get sea sick,

Couldn't agree more.

This area of the UK, the abattoirs in Northern France, Belgium and Holland are closer than the abattoirs that our animals go to in Dorset, Wales and Cornwall........... but there is a 22 mile boat trip, which the loonies don't like !

In fact they 'protested' to P and O ferries so much that they decided not to take them on their state of the art ferries from Dover. Instead these animals have to go from Ramsgate in a less than ideal ferry, which is a longer ferry crossing. The good intentioned loonies made it worse for the animals !!

To be fair she's better looking than Margaret Beckett:hungover:

Can you think of anyone not so good looking........even after a night on the falling over juice !!

Blah, blah, blah........ heard it all before.

But politics is short term... In today and gone tomorrow, currently

That’s the point: No one has told them to any effect that’s not good enough. All this excitement about climate change and long term targets etc and they haven’t thought for a minute that ag works on similar timescales? Not just the 3years it takes to produce a fat bullock but tree planting, soil conditioning etc which is decades.

I know you're point, but my point is politicians are not around long enough to give a damn about anything beyond the end of their term.

Nobody does anything anymore for the long term. Society in general has became short sighted... long term planning for farming, the environment, economy and keeping the country going steady are all alien principles to the Western World currently
