Graham Edwards livestock trailers

Unsure if this should be posted in machinery or livestock!

What are peoples opinions of Graham Edwards trailers. We don't see many in this area but they seem a lot stronger built than the equivalent Ifor Williams. Deck system certainly seems better, is this at a cost to weight?
Currently have a DP120 Ifor which is going to need replacing with something newer (but secondhand).

I bought one four years ago, it gets a lot of work, its strong, feels maybe lighter to tow than an ifor, but we have no decks so can't comment on that. I prefer back door mechanism to Ifor's , my own real criticism is the intermediate gate hinge and latch system which is dire.

I've had two a 10ft x 5ft with wind-away decks and now a 12ft x 5ft8" with Landrover wheels on the outside

I also have had the DP120 (still have the base)

The original wind away decks need a slight modification on the deck leading edges to get them folding easy. There is a knack but its very simple. I watched the chap at the factory.

Easiest is to lift the personnel door off. Wind until the decks are tight, arm in and lift the mid point of the first two deck boards, repeat process until all board flush then walk in and lift the trailing deck ramp up and secure

They are quieter and very stable to tow and Matthew Edwards is a decent guy who you get on the end of the 'phone when you call

I bet Ifors hold there money best.

Maybe because they are mostly changed fairly frequently, just as they start rattling themselves to bits?

I bought a Gamic as @GTB mentioned, and I'm not particularly concerned with resale value (even though it will be good), as I intend it to last longer than 3 yrs.

On the GE trailers, someone told me a couple of weeks ago that they had to park it on a bank, or they couldn't wind the decks up. Can anyone confirm that?

If the wire is adjusted correctly and the decks had the small modification (if an older model), I can't see this being an issue at all

I would have bought a Gamic but the order time is mad, I phoned Alan tuer at longtown had an Ifor in stock picked it up within 2hrs ! probably wait 2 years for a Gamic but they do look good.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
