Grain merchants feeling the draught too

We all feed and they seem to have the deal into Burston sown up which allow us to tractor and trailer in over winter as some of our storage would leave lorry drivers pulling their hair out. Payment on the 14th of the month, and can advance if necessary. We don’t commit our tonnage to far in advance so could sell some elsewhere but seem to work well for us. No doubt it’s not worth the paper it’s written on but we do pay the premium for the protection should they go pop.
They do a bit into crown too. Which obviously suits us being just up the road. Better road than into burston for us too. Only use them if we feel the need to sell one load forward if a price is tempting.
Have a better rapport with crown lot too but whether that'l change as they get bigger?
Payment from openfield always prompt but is that because such a small amount?

Payment not been a problem so far. Sell in 90 ton lots so in theory max out is 12-13k. Put the OSR into store there at times which can be 80k which is main reason for the going pop insurance. Is the price for feed ever much different between any of them?

Very rarely different.

We do a fair bit direct into crown. Can "usually" get a slightly better price.......

Which merchants pay 28 days after the last load on the contract is cleared? I heard something about moving say 3 loads in the first week and one load on the last day of the month resulting in nearly a month of credit? Was it Wellgrain or do others still have these terms??
Most are 28 days from each and every load surely nowadays? Keeps it simple and doesn't take the pee either.
Having said that one merchant I know of still likes to pay by cheque, sent out second class on the 28th day...

That’s the standard as far as I understand. Interested to know of any different standard terms.
