Grant Funding

As many will know HM Govt have seen fit to bung us Farmers some more money in grant funding in an attempt to promote efficiency.

So: https://assets.publishing.service.g.../814977/CPSG_Scheme_Handbook_Round_2_v1.0.pdf Page 65

SG40 GPS linked to auto steer and implement control A standalone GPS unit with automatic field boundary measurement and field recognition. It must have a minimum capability of straight and curved guidance modes and be capable of linking to implement control and auto steer. £1,366

The standalone requirementprevents a build up from a Reach or similar and a separet autosteer packaf added on?

R2-SG76 GPS Light Bar GPS guidance system using light bar to aid guidance. Linked to iphone or ipad to create, recognise and load field boundary information. Provide field boundary measurements. It must have a minimum capability of straight and curved guidance modes. With pass to pass accuracy of 20cm or greater. £1303

I am trying to get my head round this Option and wondering whether one could utilise a Reach RS+ software/hardware or a FieldBee system? Bugger that it specifies Apple stuff though...

What else is your shopping list, min spend for grant is £3500 is it not?

An obvious fit would be:

R2-SG77 GPS Auto Steer Auto steering system linked to GPS to enable auto steering to be used on older tractors. System to include electric, hands-free, automated steering system with easy installation onto steering wheel or column.

Else sheep crate!

I am limited to £8K anyway... ;)

Just Google, FieldBee or Reach RS...

I have emailed FieldBee and let them know about the Grants being offered and see if they can make their blurb meet the requirements of the Grant scheme ;-)

FieldBee RTK GPS system € 1.746,00

Looks good value if £1300-1400 is on offer... If it meets the requirement, that is!! The rules are a bit vague and need more investigation.

I did notice they put together a nice package for German farmers who have free RTK correction available!

So is there a kit I could buy that would qualify for the grants that could be swapped between both a JD 6930 and a combine, neither of which have steering valves?

I have asked Fieldbee about their mechanical steering package, as there seem to be a couple of legacy devices that were used, one with a friction roller on the steering wheel! The ones with a steering ring inside the steering wheel seems better. And of course there are the toothed devices that fit around the steering column...

No idea on cost or performance as yet...

Does the Field Bee system fulfil all of the requirements of the R2-SG77 GPS auto steer section?

I have my doubts, but admit that I am unsure... I have emailed and asked them, as if it does, AND if they put it in their spec sheets that it does, they will sell a lorry load!

Not heard back as yet!

The first Option refers to automatic recognition of each field, and I am unsure if their software will do this. BIT surely not a difficult thing to do. Why automatic is actually required is a mystery!

If you do hear back please share with the rest of us what they have to say.

I'm a bit confused on the specifics of this CPSG as I've never used it before, but you lot seem to have a decent grasp on it, so I was wondering if you could help. The items I'm interested in are SG40 GPS linked to auto steer and implement control & SG42 variable rate controller for sprayers. We are planning on buying a new (to us, hopefully 3-4000hrs) self propelled sprayer with GPS boom shut off built in. If the Boom control and GPS is itemized separately in the new product invoice could we use the grant to cover those specific items? or as its a new to us machine with it all built in will it be ineligible?

If it's a secondhand machine with secondhand stuff in it, it's ineligible.

It has to be brand new.
So could buy a sprayer and have it all fitted by the dealer as long as the invoices showed it all seperately.

The response was not that useful to be honest, simply a quote for a setup consisting of the Rover and base units, software and the mechanical autosteer. The latter coming out at around £5K.

I think the software will auto-recogniose individual fields and will keep field records etc.

I will stick with human steer for my needs fro the time being, but would like a more accurate location fixing setup than my GarminGlo.
