Grazing standing hay

What are fellow autumn calvers doing. I grazed all my potential standing hay in the grazing round. I now have a chunk of surplus grass turning up for dry cows after the rain but it is going to be much leafier and lush than normal. Do other people have this problem and how are they going to manage it for there dry cows.

It will soon turn to sh!t. Only shut mine up 3 weeks ago. Will start it in 3 weeks time. More standing silage than standing hay.

Restrict the grass and feed some hay in ring feeders. Perhaps @Beef farmer will sell you some cheap.

Thats what we will do. Probably feed the hay under the wire but yes.

Bales and cake.

Mine was burnt off stalks 2 weeks ago. Quite nice stuff underneath that now, not masses of it though so they will soon get through it I suspect.
