Need something to charge all these electric cars, trucks and trains we are going to be using - not to mention the heat pumpsThinking BIG!
If I recall correctly it took about 7 years to build a light house - offshore wind turbines are installed in days - and not many of thembuilt wrong then are they not

So true - keying the stones into the living rock did not speed things up eitherLots of lighthouses took years to build as they could only work on them at particular times at low tide and when the seasons allowed.
I do not believe we have any gas turbine power stations in the UK - we have gas powered generation - which is not the same thing at all
Um ? How do you think thry work?I do not believe we have any gas turbine power stations in the UK - we have gas powered generation - which is not the same thing at all
I just Googled "UKgas power stations", interesting to see Drax now has planning for gasUm ? How do you think thry work?
First they burn the gas in a turbine, then use the waste heat to produce steam.
It is called a combined plant
They regularly produce 50% + of our power
Ther'll be some paperwork suggesting that because they'll be using imoorted gas it doesn't count towards Drax's emissions, but they will therefore qualify for some green subs from HM govt.I just Googled "UKgas power stations", interesting to see Drax now has planning for gas
Whats the emission advantage of gas over coal?I just Googled "UKgas power stations", interesting to see Drax now has planning for gas

Also much easier to deliver it through a pipe. Coal's a bit lumpy.Gas has about twice the energy density and way, way, way less pollutants.
Because of all the other stuff that is in with the coal, you have a much lower efficiency converting the chemical energy into electricity.
Carbon dioxide aside, coal is a very dirty fuel, emitting particulate and radioactive rubbish into the local area.
burning grain cheaper than pellets or wood?Burning wood is no better than burning coal or oil.
Burning wood to dry wood to use to dry grain is also madness
Not meaning to be pedantic but those are not turbinesonly small scale ones

Yes they do - as you say combined cycle - a gas turbine is horrendously fuel inefficient - or at least the ones I sailed with were.Um ? How do you think thry work?
