Regen ag advocates are being given the chance to win £10,000 through the launch of a new sustainable farming competition, aimed at realising seedling ideas.
The Green Innovation Award from the Green Farm Collective will support a project idea from concept through to delivery and is open to any individual working within food production.
Founder member of the group, Tim Parton, says it’s about making a difference by delivering a project or idea which the wider industry can learn from. “We’re looking for ideas which seek financial support that align with the core principles of regenerative farming. That can be either at an on-farm level or further down the food chain such as a retail product which requires launching,” he explains.
Cash prize
The prize pot stands at a guaranteed £10,000 but may later increase as further industry support is secured. Depending on the applications received, it’ll be awarded to one recipient, or, be split among several, and is to be used towards practically realising the proposed idea.
“Once underway, the Green Farm Collective will be on-hand to provide support and coach the recipient(s) as their project unfolds. There’ll then be the opportunity to present the final conclusions at our annual conference,” says Tim.
Broad scope
He says the remit is wide, with example themes including developing a new composting innovation, a food product or a piece of equipment. “We’re very open-minded, as long as it’s in-line with regen and a journey we can be a part of.”
Applications are open until the end of this year (2023), with the winner(s) announced at the Green Farm Collective’s 2024 conference. If successful, the competition format will be repeated as an annual event.
