Sheep = bred for too much wool = maggots = insecticide.
Sheep = intensive for high output = cocktail of workers = resistance etc etc
When will we break this destructive cycle?

Short haired robust sheep? Goats?

Are we missing something?

Yes, management and selection.
For example, lambs getting too big before birth because of lots of clover (before lambing?) is purely down to your grazing management. Get some electric fencing up if your fields are too big. Nutritional management is half the job done, regardless of whether it’s managing forage or concentrates.

Nutrition, is more than half, if you #### that up, you are on a hiding to nothing.
there's masses of advice on how to manage grazing, for both cattle and sheep, it really is quite easy to improve grass management, costs b-all, and huge pay back, but you have to want, to do it. Proper nutrition, whether grazed, stored or conc, bring the best returns, in both health and profit.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
