I was only there today, but great day. Lots of interesting stuff.

The talk from Eustace didn't fill me with confidence. Lots of fluff, but it seemed "BPS is ending, we're replacing it with different schemes, but the money will still end up with the landowner".

Very much meet the new boss same as the old boss.

@Farmer Roy
I delivered my water talk yesterday then attended the Big Top for the ELMS panel discussion (which told us little), a useful session on dung beetles and a discussion around organic dairying and herbal leys. In between I had numerous personal discussions with academic researchers, fellow farmers and business support providers as well as helping @Sheila Cooke and the 3LM team explain Holistic management to a number of interested people and agreed to several of them calling here to see what we are doing in the near future.

Today I attended the excellent Pasture for life dairy panel discussion featuring @onesiedale then a Silvopasture discussion followed by a long discussion on a trade stand about composting manure and ways of applying it. At lunch I and 4 others discussed our group evidence to the government select committee with a UK agricultural journalist after which I attended a talk on "no-dig" commercial vegetable growing before long discussions around carbon trading with 3 separate trade exhibitors, joining the "Pasture for life" group and having a personal chat with the farm dung beetles group, again with lots of discussions along the way with other farmer delegates.

I did manage to avoid buying ANY new machinery or even a single book this year.

A busy couple of days.

I was in there for the ELMS talk too.
I took Janet up on her offer of talking to her team.
They seemed surprised when I told them that as a dd'er of nearly a decade now, doing cover cropping, grazing covers (so getting livestock on land again), I couldn't see how I can make the SFI work on my farm.

I will read it all properly one day, but other things take precedence at the mo.

Agreed. Was a good couple of days. Highlight session was probably pasture dairy one this morning.
Oh and the one in the bar last night. 😂

Was great to meet you, your wife and the philosophical pig farmer last night. Probably the most inspirational bit of the two days for me!

Great event @martian. Due to work commitments i could only make the second day but it was worth it and great to bump into people i hadn't seen for a while.

I found this year to be very different from previous years (due to travel restrictions) with a lack of diverse internationally speakers and the recognisable superstar speakers of which i have really enjoyed in the past.

This year was very UK centric which with everything that's going on with regards to government policy, BPS, climate action, greening, water and EU trade deals made it all incredibly relevant and applicable to attendees on a level that i don't think has seen before. As always the event was well managed and the fact that all the talks will be on Youtube is really fantastic and a great service to the all the communities who are interested in these topics.
