Hand foot and mouth virus

Yep, I’ve caught from the little 2yr old mayhem causing beastie in our house! Couldn’t work out why my palms were itchy when I woke up this morning and they were covered in spots.

Apparently all my finger nails could fall off!

Never ceases to amaze me considering I’ve gone most of my life laughing at others suffering from colds etc. How wrong was I?

If this is your first child I have bad news. This is the start of a long biological war with you as the only target.
I too laughed at people constantly "ill" or "under the weather". Till my son started nursery. 30 kids from everywhere, also going to parties everywhere, whose parents worked everywhere. As a germ distribution network it is unsurpassed. For the past 8 years I have been ill or under the weather every month, as opposed to twice a year!

Sometimes I wonder why humans want to (successfully) breed at all :depressed:

Horrible virus, I felt awful

I think it started on Christmas Day, my bones felt like they were cold and sore. Went to bed at 4 in the afternoon but I do have a stinking cold to go with it. Have you ever had to scrape 1/4 of grey goo off the roof of your mouth in the morning because you had to sleep with your mouth open? I blame the child but she’s still the best thing in the world!

As they say 'been there, done that, got the t shirt' except I've thrown it away.

Hang in there that's nasty stuff , the wife had a round last winter definitely worse for adults. Don't know how I survived not getting it but sure am thankful I wasn't affected

I've managed to get HF&M twice in the last 6 years, I was told I couldn't get it as an adult....

Talk about "rising to the challenge"...

My advice is plenty of antihistamine and try not to scratch, limit alcohol intake to after 7am, and look forward to it buggering off.
Oh, and avoid spicy foods, you'll work that one out by yourself... :(

Yeah that was always my understanding you couldn't get it twice but know of several people who have had it more than once here as well. Eat plenty of apples ,squeeze fresh lemon juice in water , heard before they both have antiviral properties (y)

Thanks All for the comments above. Yep, worked out the spicy food one. Spots on hands are now itchy to the point of pain. Oozy spots on face. Cold has nearly gone now but I think I preferred that to be honest than I do now. At least it’s not sending my blood sugars mental like some bugs do...........blurrgh I feel sh1tty today folks.....:sorry:

I should think I went nearly 20years without a day lost, until this woman in my life, who had come along with vague promises of wonderful food and other pleasures:rolleyes:, suddenly turned up with a child and then those ills all kicked in. 20 years later child leaves home and glory be, coughs colds and others departed atthe same time.:)
Sadly this child has turned up with her own to reinfect us all.:hungover:
