Remember my old mans mate got in his company car. Sprayed hairspray then sparked a smoke no longer term damage other than eyebrows missing ?

I’ve seen lighters explode left in cars but not much damage, I’ve always put mine in glovebox’s or down the doors.
I’ve had hand sanitizers in the pickup for years to clean hands after sheep work if handling orfy stock or other problems plus handy for the kids - never had a problem with it.

Reminds me of the tale , told to me by the wisest man I ever knew. John Skinner an auctioneer with Berry Bros
He joined up in 1939 to the cavalry. In those days their horses had only just been replaced by tanks.
as a public school boy he had joined as a junior lieutenant.
he was sent With his squadronto North Africa via The cape and Suez to face Rommel.
They had orders that they should ready for battle.
one thing was that all tanks should carry armed grenades which the crews hated, as they had a habit of exploding at the wrong moment. These grenades were to be used if the tank was disabled, the crews were to use them against the enemy
he gave the order that all grenades should be armed ready for battle in the morning.
For some reason they were stood down and in the morning they had a surprise inspection . The geneal noticed the grenades had been armed, who did this ? And my friend stepped forward and acknowledged it was his order.
In turn he was told to disarm them and never order it again as the desert heat would certainly cause premature explosion.
John’s first battle at Tobruk resulted in his capture and he spent 4years in Stalag 4
RIP

lad in my class at school wore a LOT of hair gel, one day he looked a bit different. Convinced he’d run out of gel and was wearing mums hairspray. He denied it till blue in the face, or rather until another lad held a lighter up to the back of his head ???

wasn’t so much the fire that annoyed him, more the slapping to put out the hair inferno.

Two cars and a house frontage spontaneously got burnt in the local village about a month ago and hand sanitiser was deemed to play a part in the cause of fire. I’ve also seen first hand a car charging a phone start a fire. Wrote the car off with mainly acrid smoke damage.

The wife is in the fire service and had an email last night from HQ saying it can happen and for all service personnel to tell their family/friends and anyone else that will listen that hand sanitizer can explode/combust in vehicles. I assume due to the windows magnifying it..

Still gotta reach >300C to ignite without a spark, it is hot but not that hot. Lead melts at 327C for example.
