Handbrake buzzer retrofit

Has anyone ever fitted a buzzer to an older tractor that tells you you have left the handbrake on?

I keep leaving it on in our older machines as I've got used to having a light and/or buzzer going off when using our newer tractor.

It’s easy to make a light or buzzer come on all the time the handbrakes on, you just need a switch and a light.
Wire from the ignition, to the switch, via a fuse. Then from the switch to the light, and back to earth. For ease of mounting I’d use a normally open whisker switch, but it won’t look pretty. Neater would be a proximity switch or similar.

A harder solution would be to make the light or buzzer come on when you engaged a gear and the handbrake was on. Doable, but will take an extra switch or too.

Depends what level of complexity/ neatness you’re looking for?

It's a good idea and the buzzer on our baler is better than the yellow light that comes on when the net drive starts..

but possibly the Trouble is if you sort one out, theres always a chance of a failure of it but by that time you will could be relying on it totally, possibly...iyswim

What I've done in the past is write up a note somewhere visible like on the lower part of the windscreen ...HANBRAKE OFF .. or similar..

Simple enough get a door light switch from a car or such mount it so as it will earth when the handbrake is pulled, mount your buzzer and bring the earth wire to the switch on the handbrake from the buzzer. find a power supply that only operates when the key is on, then add a fuse and bring power to the buzzer..................................................................................

I heard the postmans van today, it has recorded voice message coming out of the speakers ' something like..." the handbrake is applied , disengage before moving off " played on a loop....:banghead:until you let the handbrake off I guess...

I get used to the buzzers and still leave the handbrake on !

Much prefer the ones that won't engage a gear until the handbrake is off.. its idiot proof even for me!

Might be harder to achieve on retro fit though..

My second choice would be one of those bright, flashing LED strobes mounted in the cab at eye level !
Although not if you suffer from epilepsy o_Oo_O:wideyed:

Nice 12Volt buzzes / handbrake switches on E-Bay, we'd use a small trailer marker light, so it wouldn't be ignored. If still stuck, I'll do diagram for you when I'm back at the computer, on the phone at the minute. Nice project ....
