Hartpury College students get hands on with Pottinger
In conjunction with local dealer Newman Enterprises, we recently loaned Hartpury College in Gloucestershire a Pottinger Synkro 3030 cultivator for some practical in field sessions looking at cultivation techniques.
We were really pleased to receive this great feedback from Kieran Symonds, Lecturer in Agriculture & Mechanisation
We have had the Pottinger Synkro cultivator from Newman Enterprises for several weeks, in that time we have used it to cultivate; Maize stubble, Grass leys ready for re seeding and also on the game strips at the college.
The cultivator is exceptionally straightforward to set up and get working in the field, the hydraulically adjustable rear packer is a big bonus and saves a huge amount of time when setting the machine up compared to other cultivators without this feature. It also allows you to fine tune the machine on the move in the field, increasing our efficiency.
Overall the Synkro worked very well and prepared the land exceptionally well, it had low fuel use and a high output.
The cultivator was paired with our 150 and 170 horsepower tractors which coped on our heavy sloping land with ease travelling at between 10 and 12 kmh. The machine has received very good reviews from our first year Agriculture students who have used it as part of their Land Based Machinery module. The students were also very impressed with the overall cost of the machine, relative to other cultivators of the same size, it is very good value.
