Started spring barley again this morning.

Coming off at 23%. Already a fair bit on ground so want to crack on before Tuesdays wind and rain

I don’t know what I have done!
The sun seems to have completely disappeared here for the past 10 days and just as the Spring Oats and Spring Wheat are becoming ready they’re is no decent weather forecast for the next 2 weeks!
The bloody weather forecast seems to change on an hourly basis and it looks like the Combine will have stood still for a month before it gets used again.
I even turned its battery isolator off this morning!
Similar problem here, been stopped for 12 days now, just wet every night and very little sun to dry the crops during the day.
Still 95% to harvest, looking like an October finish 😠

Cut a 10 acre field of January drilled firefly away from the farm in a village. My best bit. Might have done 3 t/ acre. The rest will be 1 to 2 t./ acre.
Just got finished that field before heavens opened at 4pm. Moisture started at 17% this morning down to 16 when finished. Not a drying day. Forecast rubbish.

So, is that 6.5t from the stuff that was good as dead? If so, then a great result.

An Act of God i would say.

It is inconceivable to me that a farmer of Clive's standing cannot tell the difference between alive and dead wheat. Although IIRC 10t/ha last year appeared out of somewhere that was on deaths door two months previous, so......

QED

Finished wheat today and set a record for the worst harvest we have recorded here ie since 78.(glass half empty).

Got about 2.4 t/ ac in old money and it will have to do. A lot of it will make close to full milling. Glad to be done. (glass half full)

Laboured thru 10 acres of barely fit SB doing about 2t/ac before showers stopped play at 4 pm today.

Had a bit of flying start and hardly turned a wheel for two weeks since. Back on wheat today which has shed a bit. I've got a lot of shitty rotting straw on the ground got knows when I can deal with that - wish I chopped it as is scuppering my osr plans - any opinions on latest date for OSR seeding for some farm saved in the west? Looks crap for another 10 days at least

You are lucky to get that weather, no chance here since Friday and that was a showery day. Very little chance since the last of that hot spell 10 days ago. North York’s.
