Cut 10ha of Organic Mulika @ 3.5t/ha yesterday for a neighbour, ending the cereal harvest.
Beans cut this week, very poor... at least a speedy end with beans going in the combine at 6.5kph and the organic wheat at 8kph
Just the delights of SOSR to go next week.

In review, a good cereal harvest, a pants break crop harvest, could be a lot worse

Does make you think hoq aome of those older varieties would perform with a bit of help from modern agrochemicals.
Up here consort ww continues to either be top or in the top 3 in variety trials.
Not that you will be told that . Friend of mine who I persuaded to grow it cancelled seed order after third year as his agronomist was slow on the septoria control, looked terrible. Combine driver reported 5t/ac yields round the headrig so he very quickly phoned to order more.

Where can I get some seed from? Used to grow it years ago and it was great. No idea why we stopped! No merchant round here interested in sourcing any for me.

I've found liquid sunshine isn't working very well this year :scratchhead:
I agree with that . Don’t normally do it and wondering what the fuss is all about .
ok that it eventually takes the greens out, but the claim that it reduces drying seems flawed to me. If it’s ripe and the suns out, it’ll drop on it’s own.

Same here, it is working ok on a few blw in the bottom of the crop but not on the wheat !! My last couple of fields had a lot of green strips (wheelings from when it was late rolled) and anywhere the T3-4 fungicide was double dosed (headands on odd shaped fields etc) But with some of it chitting in the ear and a lot dropping out of the ear (skyfall) i decided to cut it around 19% and put it through the drier !!!!!! Yield will be around 2.8-2.9 t/acre once dried so well happy with that for March drilling.

We have had about 35 useful combining hours during the month to date in this locality .i.e when it was below 20%. We have managed to grab our 110 acres of cereals during that time by the skin of our teeth with what is a very high capacity combine for our small acreage.(JD1085). There are thousands of acres round about here still to be harvested. It’s now hosing it down yet again and blowing a strong wind: If this sort of weather is going to be the norm then there is going to need to be a rethink in cropping or combine capacity ratings in this area. It feels like the Scottish border has moved down to Boston from where I’m sitting weatherwise. Just been round my grain store drains to make sure they can cope with the present torrential downpour.
It’s climate change good and proper and we are going to have to adapt.

Unreal rain here last night, looks like it will be next week at the earliest before harvest 2020 resumes . Got sixty acres of wheat cut and straw baled but barely got started on the barley. No doubt the weather will levy the yield again . Why couldnt it rain in April when it was needed . Everything about this cropping year has a trial .

Was dreading cutting this but it went like a dream and yielded very well, full rate growth regulator but loads of fym and a storm was to much for it.
