Has 6290 cult following?

The 62s were supposedly 5 horse more than the 61s making the 6290 135hp, although with a few turns, I'm sure a lot of them were pushing out a lot more.

Leaving behind the disastrous pre select shuttle of the 61s, the introduction of the power control shuttle, brought dynashift into its own and imo made the 6200 series a very popular, much loved and sought after set of tractors.

Really happy with my 6290, but wouldn't hesitate to sell it for a 6480 or even 90 if someone wants to make me an offer ;)

Are 6180/90 not as powerful. Maybe it's powershuttle wins it?
Last of the simple ish tractors. Any tractor mechanic worth his weight will be able to fix them without needin laptops which when there near 20 years old is major plus. Just wait another 10 years and low hour clean examples will be makin a fortune and featurin in classic tractor. So yeah id say ther is a growin cult followin for them

Diff pistons & type of inj pump is the main diff between a 6190/6290
also Quadram vs Fastram piston design
the perkins lump will be very similar otherwise, apart from Plastic Thermostat housing on the 6200 series.
I know of a 16000hr plus Y reg 6290 still going well enough

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’d buy a new 6200 series in preference to anything on the market today.
i wont disagree on that but things have moved on no matter how ya look at it.
was talking to the lad who has that 16000 odd hour 6290 & he said it will be replaced with something a bit newer before too much longer
he runs lots of masseys right upto current 76/77 models

I agree things have moved on but lets say you had an unused 6290 ,tm140,jd 6910,fait 110 90, fendt 515 turbomatic case maxxum 5150 pro and you advertised them all at 60k each it wouldnt be to long til theyd be all gone and if ye had 10 of each they stil would shift like hotcakes so things may have moved on and ther is a place for most mordern stuf put on tractors but your average livestock farmer doesnt need half o it

All of the above are fine if ya a youngster & have no back issues
where as the modern stuff is so much better comfort wise its unreal the diff it makes.
£60k each for a Tractor built ni on 20yrs ago with Zero warranty even if they have been parked up & done nothing.
as much as they were simpler id still spend the extra & have the comfort plus some warranty.
Dunno where our farming job will be in a few years time but something has to give thats for sure.

Yes clocks spin faster like old Deere it seems.
Had a quadram mf 3125. Fastram was introduced to handle emissions which is probably a step backwards for power and economy.
I have done some work with 6180 this summer and even less with 2 high hour 6290's. Get the feeling while power is strong on PTO. They are weaker low down. The lower powered one I talked with would stall if changing from 1st to 2nd gear if not tramping on. Maybe boost diaphragm weak in pump. So far I'd be as happy in 6180

How about an 8210. Could they be bought chaeper than a 6290. See few in france for sale but alot of them has the powershift box, would that be bad thing? Seein as it has lot less hp goin thru it than an 8280 powershift

I had a TM140 while my T7.210AC was in for surgery, what a heap of a tractor, strong engine but everything else was crap. I couldn't wait for the T7 to come back. 6290 was fine in its day, as was the 3125 I drive most days, but seriously outclassed by modern kit.
