Crudes come down in price in the last few weeks you wont see a drop in finished products for a while they will already have loads in stock when the price was higher....

Short answer is no, and i doubt it will unless this low oil price continues till next season?

Stuff like wrap and net will have been made and stock piled ages ago ready for this season.

Engine oils? may come down if the lock down continues? there will be plenty stock at old prices as the motor trade isnt buying it as much so lack of demand, that may drive prices down on the stuff thats not selling well currently but agri stuff will be in demand still as much as ever so i doubt there will be a change unless the crude price stays low for a long time so it filters through.

Stupid question....but how much oil does lubricating oil contain? It gets blended up with additive packages etc...are they made from oil or other minerals, compounds, chemicals?

Why is it a stupid question? Yet you ask how much oil is in lubricating oils, I would presume it would be at least 80 to 90% oil to 10% additives but i am guessing at that. I would expect lubricating oils to come down in price in line with fuel at the pumps, say 5 or 10%, but they probably won,t.

We make every effort to keep our prices as low as possible but sadly our prices are still the same.
I'm sure most of you know there is not that much crude oil actually in oils nowadays, it's mainly expensive additives.
The only other things that sometimes effects our prices is the strength (or lack of it) of the £ GBP and the price of steel for the barrels.

Hope this help and thanks again for all your efforts in feeding the nation, I know a lot of our agricultural customers have been flat out.

Best wishes,
Dave.

Maybe should be in a new thread but out of curiosity,do any oil distributors or producers take the empty barrels back for reuse? The majority are still as new and I see no reason why not. Same with the plastic 20l drums. Why aren't they reused? It's not as if they even need melted down and remade. Refill and maybe relabel but that's it.
No different to plastic drinks bottles or spray containers really. Little wonder there is so much plastic dumped when the majority can be reused without with little effort.

just on the subject of how much crude oil is in oil, does fully synthetic mean there is no crude oil in the blend?

Excellent question.
For us it is all about price. If we have to pay to collect the empties, then to avoid contamination get them professionally cleaned / treated, and any dinks or scratches removed.......the costs end up at nearly the cost of new barrels all ready treated.

No there would be crude in them, but the crude is refined and made into different "Base oils"
There are a number of different European base oils, Group I, Group II Etc.

These are then in turn used to make Engine oils, Hydraulic Oil etc.

Check out ICIS.com webside....might give you a little more info.
