Hay making 2020

Finally got customers willing to cut grass here in South West County Durham. Rain was forecast most of last week and most of this and turned out to be very little if any really. Probably could have baled silage and haylidge nearly every day. Possible rain tomorrow and possible rain Monday but think most are now giving up listening to the forecast of doom. Can't see any actual hay weather mind, will mostly be to wrap this year I reckon.

Took a risk, epic fail, can't be a winner every time eh... @del_boy

Absolutely no hay weather forecast for Scotland , when they say rain in the north west that means all of scotland, we never miss it. Rained every evening this week and were totally flooded out last Sunday, ground is abit tender around here can't stand anymore really, needing 3 weeks dry weather. Not this good weather that's forecast but never arrives.

Well you'd never known it had rained here really as its dried off. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't have wanted something 3 quarters hay getting wet but silage grass or anything freshly cut has took no harm at all. If people continue to go by the current forecast it and don't cut all quality will be gone. Be August in 3 weeks

Nothing like a drop of rain to give you patience.;):D
We have decided to just crack on. 16 acres down for 2 days, another 20 to cut tomorrow. Showers today but just tossed it out anyway in the rain as it is still green. Neighbours probably think we are daft. 3 good days to come and Monday not looking too wet now so it will bale next week. Only needs a good 24 hours by then to get it dried for hay.
As you say, patience needed not to panic and phone for the wrapper.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
