My plan as always to only sell at a worthwhile price and when the time comes only make enough to refill the barn..... Do you ever see Apple selling off their previous stock of iphones for 1/3 of what they are worth in order to make space for their new model?? :scratchhead:
They do actually .

sons pal is selling small bales off the field £5, but as he says, grass is free, tackles paid for, and he's shoved enough in the barn, already, and he can earn more shearing, than staying at home, hauling bales, to sell at £6/7 in the winter. - he has a few thousand in the barn already.

If he is away shearing, who is counting the bales and collecting £?

We have had a good start so far for West Wales! Weather has held nicely, enough time to get what's been cut in without rushing, and although this is quite early, the wind has been a contributing factor in drying the grass..
We have sold our hay for £5 per bale since 2013, and have charged extra for delivery, the delivery charge has been increasing over the years... This year we will be increasing to £5.75 pb and charging extra delivery...
We tried one year the buying off the field, it didn't work for us, in so much the customer didn't turn up on time, wanted help loading into boxes etc, it slowed our whole process down, never to be repeated..

That sort of thing has made me so cross in the past. It is the only reason I keep a single row Lotus - for travelling a very few feet in front of the baler on such days.
Usually have atleast one field a year needing that technique, unfortunately today I needed to ted it out after some drizzle in the night😕
