Posted on buildings but no response - the likes of @Exfarmer must be on holiday ?

Just working out the finner details of building a 30,000 ft2 commercial building, heating method is up for debate.

no natural gas so either electric or oil based. Tenant will be payingthe bills but I’d like to find a sensible solution.

we have Pv on the roof, considering some sort of ASHP or GSHP hybrid.

has anyone used a tarmac car park to help capture heat? The parking is south facing so will help capture radiation as well.

if I could Pre heat the air using pipes in the car park would it be cost effective?

just booting ideas around at the moment, not done any heat calcs yet.

comments welcome!

me on holiday, I always take the Ipad ?
not my expertise I am afraid , but a tarmac car park must absorb a lot of solar Energy. Whatever you do, don’t let anyone park on it as the shading will undo the good work ?

Hi, an interesting question - we work with a couple of providers/installers, the key consideration would be the added income via the RHI against any potential costs for changing ground/infrastructure. I would be able to put you in touch with someone who could help with this and of course we can provide funding.
Where abouts in the country are you based ?

Based in Oxfordshire

Water / GSHP are still offering 9.56 p / kwh but I am not sure if the area of car park and thermal gane from it would be enough to make this work or not.

I have already made some enquiries but welcome any contacts you have.

thanks
