That's what I thought. Never seems to add up

Doesn’t have to be accurate, 4.8m would probably be marketed as a 5.
Plenty of 3m cultivators measure less than 3m.

Plenty of tractors have less power than the sticker on the side, its only a made up model number.

Edit. Put the flail head down as low as it will go eg bottom of a ditch and then measure the distance above.

Trouble I have. I sell a few used machines. Customer want to know how big it is. If there's no indication from the model number I'm a bit stuck for giving an accurate answer

I just looked up that same question on the mcconnel website lately.
Reach is measured when boom and head are stretched straight out horizontally, and head is slid out as far as possible on the bracket (box rail). Measure from outside edge of furthest flail on head back to the point where the boom pivots on the base at the back of the tractor.
Or roughly - from outside of head to middle of tractor.
PA5570 is 5.5m. And 70HP.
