I take it then that’s its not registered then, ours was an M reg PBE154M if I recall. It’s where my hatred of all things Ford stems from and the later bag of spanner’s 7810 we had !.

Hi, can you help dating my Ford 2000 tractor

i have these numbers

C7NN-4024

C7NN-7006 AK

Kind regards
I don't think those are the right numbers for model/year identification. I also have C7NN-7006 AK on the right side of my gearbox/clutch casing on my Ford 3000. There could be another number on the top of the same casing. Just behind the starter motor. Letter, 4 numbers and a letter. Will see if I can find a link to the site I used to check mine.

Could be worth checking to see if it's stamped on the casing and that it matches the plate. Mine took a bit of fathoming due to all the layers of paint:

Don't know about the 2000 but my 1971 3000 has no problem with a 5ft straight topper. Long grass, thick with weeds, etc. Just did 2 acres on Sunday. If it starts to bog down, increase revs and/or raise the height a bit. Sharpening the blades every now and then helps. P.S. There's only one way to find out!

Not sure what damage it could do to the tractor. Maybe wear out the engine if you were using it a lot? See if anyone else has an opinion on that? If the topper itself bogs down or hits something, you can snap the shear bolt. Easy enough to sort though.

I dunno. It's only 37hp IIRC. And 46 years old. You say you have access to the topper, ie. borrow it ? Try it and see. As long as there's not too much black smoke  , and the engine doesn't overheat, then crack on. It probably depends on what you're cutting more than anything. Thin dry crops of grass will take less power than thick wet grass. I seem to remember using our 7' Abbey topper on our Ford 4000 with no probs.

Make sure that radiator is clean as a coating of dust acts as insulation and also check fanblade is clean
The topper blades should be sharp
A word of warning...... be careful as the tractor front end could rise up with topper in raised position
