Have a Massey 7620 and when first starts up and put to work the temp goes into the red and nearly boils , If I leave it ticking over for 5 mins and then carry on working all day with no problem? It only does the once after starting it up and working hard regardless hot or cold?
Dealer doesn’t know and says they will have to come out but have no idea what it could be? I’m not paying them to mess about all day not knowing what they are looking for surely it’s happened before. I’ve changed thermostats but still does it , I’m worried it will cause serious harm keep overheating.

sounds like the clutch in the fan is away, we have replaced a few over the years

Had the same on a 6490 it was the fan clutch not kicking in as @Speedstar said it needed a new one. If it’s like a 64 if you unplug the fan it with lock on see it that helps the problem. Make sure you keep the plug and wire away from the fan.

Unplugged sensor no different still gets hot as before, error code E 1 05 which in book says exhaust manifold temp sensor ? Surely this wouldn’t allow it to boil just the once then be fine all day ?

Stupid question I'm sure, but are you sure you unplugged the fan clutch? Did it only throw the code after unplugging? If it did then perhaps you just unplugged the wrong item?

E105 is air intake temperature and is usually related to the viscous fan as mentioned.
You can watch the fan speed on the left screen on the dash.
Hold the up arrow on the steering column.
It will bring up a list, select data using the OK button and scroll through till you see speed demanded and below it fan speed this will give you an indication if it's working correctly
