I’m after some help with my John Deere Round Baler it’s a 466 we bought second hand.

Our problem is that the net wrap gets pulled through the machine whenever the PTO is running. We have had an auto electrician and a baler tech look at it with no real luck

Has anyone encountered this? We are new to rounds.

Ours is a 575, so obviously a fixed chamber not an expanding but perhaps similar problem...? as Icanshootwell mentioned turned out to be a combination of knife/net brake and brand of net leaving bits that get sucked back into the chamber on the next bale. Eventually sorted it, and replaced the net rubber roller which was worn out (actually the rubber had been burnt off and replaced by an inner tube!).

Have you checked the knife? If you don,t get a clean cut, your left with straggly ends that hook onto rollers and pull through.
That is good advice but this is even from a freshly put in roll that has been pushed thru the roller.
It seems as though the baler is thinking wrap at all times.

On ours the feed roller is turned by a rubber v-belt, there's a solenoid crank which adjusts the belt tension, driving the feed roller when I press a switch in the cab. I don't know for the 466 but take the net completely out, and run the baler whilst peering in through the hatches to see if the net roller is turning? if it is then I guess gives you something to work towards, unplug some electrics or check the tension is correct on the drive mechanism and that its not dragging. Different model to ours however.

I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows specifically about this baler model.

It must be electrical then, maybe vermin have chewed a wire, or get box checked over. Another option would be to borrow a box from a dealer or farmer to try, at least you could rule out that if it still does the same thing. Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.
