High houred Fendt 718 or medium houred 6150R

So, my time on the seat will be going up this coming season, been enjoying our classic fleet the past few years, but coming to accept they are tiring to run on long days and should possibly look to go back a bit more modern. Thinking to go two to one with 7800 and 6400 against a medium frame 150+hp tractor, what would the thoughts be on maintenance costs between a 2016 718 with 10000 hrs vs a 2013 6150R ap with 6000 hours? Guess for good enough dealers Claas and Valtra an option. Best dealer is JD by miles... but hassle free is the hoping, more so than back up. Had a few 6r when they were new, but no experience of them on higher hours.

I’d go autoquad deere. If you’re all arable you normally just stick it in a gear for field work and leave it at it. Saying that there’s plenty of autopowers on original box at 15k hours. Can that be said about the Fendt? They’re kind of living on their name of 20 years ago, nowadays they’re no better than the competition

Are yours coping with the hours OK? No stranger to quad box, used to be put off by autopower, but they seem pretty good these days.

A JD mechanic said that the quad is best, but their autopower is very very close behind.
Mine doesn’t have big hours on it, but still drives like new. Only complaint I’d have is a bit drony at full revs, on road or combi, but at normal field work, ploughing etc it’s pretty quiet. Would a 6155 be in budget?
No matter what brand they’ll all wear out

I run both JD and Fendt, only varios. I have spent more money on 1 jd gearbox than the 6 fendt tractors i have had added together. This includes one bought with 11000 hours and sold at 21000. That one was swapped for a 9000 hour 716 last year, it will do 1000 hours a year feeding the moos. I have found that with high hour tractors you expect a few big bills but it’s the little ones that add up, fuel lines perish, spool connectors wear out etc. I don’t think there is really a lot between JD and Fendt. Buy the one you want to sit in for a while. A dealer you get on with is also worth a fortune.

Yes, could go for a 6155, but would prefer to avoid adblue and get the best of a 150r rather than an average 155r... might be daft as the 155 is reputed to be the better tractor.

Case vario def better box than JD from users point of view. But overall drive JD is much nicer place to be. Not been able to compare Fendt with these.
Won't be a Case, dealer backup non existent here. Shame, as they do represent good value.

Laptop will sort the ad blue problem, as you’ll also need on the 6150 to bypass the egr to make it run at a sensible temperature and make it an actual 150hp.
They’re a bit quieter, but better on a second hand tractor of any brand is usually how they’ve been treated as to the model designation.

Mines been faultless, the t6080 it replaced needed many spools, 50k bearing and damper plate in the all before 6000hrs and wasn’t half the tractor to drive and less power despite being 15hp more.

Thats the appeal of both the 718 and the 150 I've got my eye on, they've both been really well cared for. Tried a 6195r last week which had been on powerguard its whole life, suspect its the only attention its had, it was too big for what I need anyway

I always end up buying tractors that end up being too small😂 With high hours the tractors history and knowledge of how it’s been cared for are more important than size. if the 195 is in your price bracket and you think it’s a good machine, i would seriously consider buying it. Had a few of them here on hire, always been happy with them. Not mega heavy and manoeuvrable, maybe not as much as a 718 though.

A late derv dr'd 6150r will be both long term reliable and an animal compared to a fendt 718.

The early 6150s were disappointing compared to last 6930s. They did get better with time, but we were still disappointed till the 6155 was launched. They are a true 6930 replacement better in every way.
